New Dressage Performance Standards Considered

Proposal would establish qualification process for riders competing at Fourth Level and above.

May 12, 2008

A revised Dressage Performance Standards Proposal drafted by the United States Equestrian Federation's (USEF) Dressage Committee would establish a new qualification process for riders competing at Fourth Level and above at USEF-licensed and U.S. Dressage Federation-recognized dressage competitions. The purpose of the proposal is to ensure riders are properly prepared to move up the levels. If adopted as a USEF rule change, the proposal would become effective on Dec. 1, 2010, for the 2011 competition year. U.S. Dressage Federation (USDF) members can review the new draft posted on the USEF website.

Both the USEF and the USDF are looking for feedback and comments on the proposal. An online survey can be accessed by USEF and USDF members on the USEF website through June 15, 2008. If you are not a USEF member, you can use your USDF member number. This survey will be used to collect member feedback and comments that will be reviewed by the USEF Dressage Committee at their July 1-2 meeting. There will also be further discussion at the Adequan/USDF Annual Convention, Dec. 3-7, 2008, in Denver, Colo.

I don't like how they keep changing test in dressage. But I suppose they need to keep tests up to date and not the same old tests.
