Rookies Get Chance to Ride, Rein

Rookie Day lets beginners test their reining skills.

The Reining Horse Sports Foundation (RHSF) has added another location to host a Rookie Day, presented by its sponsor Classic Equine. Rookie Day is a one-day event that gives rookies a chance to learn from reining horse trainers, including many National Reining Horse Association professionals.  The beginning reiners are then given the chance to compete against each other in a comfortable, relaxed setting that focuses on having fun.

Rookie Day Coordinator Tracy Lynch says, “Rookie Day promotes Reining at the grassroots level and encourages new members to become more familiar with NRHA competition.”

This latest site for a Rookie Day is scheduled for September 15 in Katy, Texas and will be held at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center. There will be lots of prizes awarded plus special drawings throughout the day for all participants.

Each Rookie Day costs $175 for adults and $100 for youth riders.  It is a tax deductible charitable donation and all proceeds from Rookie Day will benefit the RHSF Crisis Fund. The Crisis Fund helps reiners who have suffered a tragedy get back on their feet.
