Stacy Westfall's Championship Ride

Stacy Westfall is currently one of the biggest stars on the reining circuit and is highly in-demand for clinics and demos. She skyrocketed to fame when this video of her winning ride at the 2006 NRHA Futurity went viral. Many people outside of the horse world learned about Westfall and the sport of reining when she and her mare Roxy made an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres's talk show in 2008.

I was so moved by the obvious skill of Stacy and the deep connection with Roxy that was clearly evident in such a spectacular bareback and bridleless ride. She absolutely should be revered for her obvious understanding of horses and how to work with them and her exceptional skill as a rider. Kudos to her and Roxy for a truly amazing display of closeness between horse and rider. I will continue to follow her and am saddened by the loss of such a talented and beautiful horse.
