TEACHING AN ANIMAL SOMETHING NEW TAKES HARD WORK AND PLENTY OF PRACTICE. FROM YOUR DOG TO YOUR HORSE HARD WORK AND TRAINING AREN'T ALWAYS FUN. BUT ONCE MASTERED IS A SOURCE OF PRIDE AND ENJOYMENT FOR BOTH. WORKING HARD TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW IS NOT CRUELTY, CONSIDERING A GAITED HORSE LIKE THIS NATURALLY CAN DO THIS GAIT PLUS ANOTHER CALLED A SLOW GAIT. BUT PERFECTING IT CAN TAKE SOME TIME.BOTH FOR RIDER AND HORSE. AND A HORSE WILL LAY BACK ITS EARS TO LISTEN TO WHAT THE RIDER IS TELLING IT THROUGH VOICE AND BODY LANGUAGE. AND WHAT IS NOT BEING SHOWN IS USUALLY A RESPONSIBLE HORSE OWNER WILL DO SOMETHING VERY RELAXING FOR THE HORSE AFTER A RIDING SESSION. SUCH AS A GOOD RUN OUTSIDE, A WALK AROUND THE GROUNDS OR A GOOD RUB DOWN AND A TREAT. A GOOD RIDER SPENDS ONLY ABOUT A HALF HOUR TRAINING, BUT SPENDS HOURS WITH THEIR HORSE.

Absolutely beautiful horse! Looks like hard work for both horse and rider.

These are Saddlebreds. Soring is something that happens in some segments of the Tennessee Walking Horse show world, not with Saddlebreds.

I guess you could say this horse is forced to slow gait in the same way that hunters are forced to go over fences, trail horses are forced to cross water and dressage horses are forced to do tempi changes.

Seems a little mean to me, I mean, the soring and everything for a stupid blue ribbon? Is it really worth it, I don't think so... Also, the horses don't at all look pleased to be doing this, clearly it's force. I've never tried it, but I sure wish it could be made much more appealing for the horses...
